To reach Bend Cemetery, the following directions will assist you in avoiding the river.
From Ripley, travel 2 miles north on Hwy 108 to E670 Road (Mehan Road), Go east 4 miles to CR N3560 (Clay Road), then south about one-half mile. Cemetery is on the east.
From Cushing, travel north 4 miles on Hwy 18, then 4 miles west on CR 670 (W. Dunkin Road), then one-half mile south on CR3560 (Clay Road).
Just north of Bend Cemetery, you will see another abandoned cemetery called Dunkin. Just south of this cemetery is an overgrown path which actually has a street sign calling it 74th Street. We arrived in the summer, and there was no sign of a cemetery. We walked down the pathway (picking up hundreds of chiggers we might add) and were able to enter the woods where the headstones are, by walking along another overgrown path running north/south. Then, entering the heavily treed areas, we began to see an occasional headstone in the thick undergrowth.
Bend Cemetery has a total of 35 burials. The two oldest were in 1900. most of the others are scattered through the decades following. There are two or three from the 1970s and two from the 1990s, and we did find one actually from 2019. There is no maintenance here. It should be more accessible in the winter. The derivation of the name Bend is unknown. There are no burials here with that name.
