Liglys over strandvaskere.

English: There is a lot of ghosting on the small islands Hirsholmene in the sea of Kattegat off the maritime town of Frederikshavn. In several places by the beaches, small blue-white flames must burn at night when it is quiet. Headlights over corpses drifted ashore. And in the village a ghost dog and a black headless foal are seen.

About the places where light over the corpses burn, it is said that they were put down under the beach stones and did not manage to get into consecrated ground. At certain times one can also hear their lament, which is very reminiscent of the cries of the great seagulls.

On Hirsholm island, it is a large, black furry dog ??with glowing eyes that creates disturbance, and its favorite haunt is the church and the black belfry. One hundred years ago, about 200 people lived on the island and hardly a night went by before encountering Pejter, as the dog is called. And the horror was not lessened by the fact that Pejter often accompanied a headless black foal.

Alive, Pejter was not a dog, but a human, more precisely a dean on the island. He had committed some mischief and now had to haunt the island as this creature. Nothing is known about the foal's origin, but it is probably a harbinger, in the family with the hellhorse. a ghost animal that shows up when someone is about to die.

In recent years, Pejter has calmed down somewhat, and the foal is no longer seen either. However, it still happens that the old dean finds the stay under the mulch too trivial and takes a little tour. But since there are no longer many people living on the island, there are not many to experience the ghost either.
