A dormouse is a small nocturnal rodent that looks similar to a mouse.

Although omnivorous they do eat a lot of fruits and nuts.

The sign is alongside Shipton Road whereas the pub is set back quite a way.

The pub is a building that originally formed part of a former pauper's hospital and in the garden is an orchard. No doubt it is the orchard that inspired the use of the apple on the sign.
