There are sometimes happy, sometimes sadder memories. Like every year during this period, Mireille Chorda thinks of certain events and of her grandfather that all Auronians know. Indeed, she is the granddaughter of Gaston Cabrier, resistance fighter and former mayor of the town executed by the Gestapo in June 1944. A commemorative monument in the center of the village honors her memory.

This year again, Mireille Chorda will perform a duty of remembrance to which she is very attached. On June 15, the day of Gaston Cabrier's death, she will go to the Sonnailler stele to drop a bouquet there and then to the place where he was killed and found behind the monument to the dead in Val de Cuech.

"Normally I go alone to Sonnaillet where my grandfather worked. He was part of the Sonnaillet maquis. He belonged to the combat movement like his wife Marceline, his daughter Marcelle, my mother, who was then 22 years old and was pregnant with me. ", mentions Mireille Chorda who, binder in hand, searches for documents which attest to its veracity. Marceline acted for the resistance even after the death of her husband.

This came after a visit from the Germans. Indeed, weapons were hidden in the hill. They had been parachuted into the lower Alps and then part of it had been stored in a depot in the Sonnaillet maquis. These weapons had to be changed location by Gaston Cabrier and his daughter Marcelle. But there remained a label on the spot which allowed the Germans to identify the maquis. Gaston Cabrier was arrested while working in the fields and shot.

"With the Roustan group, my aunt, who is the last surviving daughter of Gaston Cabrier, Liline Reï, friends, family, we will go to Val de Cuech. On the 18th, I will be at the monument for the official ceremony and for the annual tribute paid to the resistance fighters ".

Il est des souvenirs parfois heureux, parfois plus tristes. Comme chaque année à cette période, Mireille Chorda pense à certains événements et à son grand-père que tous les Auronais connaissent. En effet, elle est la petite-fille de Gaston Cabrier, résistant et ancien maire de la commune exécuté par la Gestapo en juin 44. Un monument commémoratif au centre du village honore sa mémoire.

Cette année encore, Mireille Chorda accomplira un devoir de mémoire auquel elle est fort attachée. Elle se rendra le 15 juin, jour du décès de Gaston Cabrier, à la stèle du Sonnailler pour y déposer un bouquet puis sur le lieu où il a été tué et retrouvé derrière le monument aux morts du Val de Cuech.

"Normalement je me rends seule au Sonnaillet où mon grand-père travaillait. Il faisait partie du maquis du Sonnaillet. Il appartenait au mouvement combat comme sa femme Marceline, sa fille Marcelle, ma mère, qui avait alors 22 ans et était enceinte de moi", mentionne Mireille Chorda qui, classeur en main, recherche les documents qui en attestent la véracité. Marceline a agi pour la résistance même après la mort de son mari.

Celle-ci est intervenue après une visite des Allemands. En effet, des armes étaient cachées dans la colline. Elles avaient été parachutées dans les basses Alpes puis une partie avait été entreposée dans un dépôt du maquis du Sonnaillet. Ces armes ont dû être changées de lieu par Gaston Cabrier et sa fille Marcelle. Mais il est resté une étiquette sur place qui a permis aux Allemands d'identifier le maquis. Gaston Cabrier a été arrêté alors qu'il travaillait dans les champs et fusillé.

"Avec le groupe Roustan, ma tante, qui est la dernière fille encore en vie de Gaston Cabrier, Liline Reï, des amis, la famille, nous irons au Val de Cuech. Le 18, je serai au monument pour la cérémonie officielle et pour l'hommage annuel rendu aux résistants".

Car il est très important de se souvenir, d'entretenir la mémoire.
