Named after the city in Israel, this tiny village of Jerusalem is in southern Rhode Island on the Atlantic Ocean. Jerusalem appears in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) 669 times. One passage is Isaiah 30:19 --

People in Tziyon, who live in Yerushalayim,
you will weep no more.
At the sound of your cry, he will show you his grace;
on hearing it, he will answer you.

When driving the only land route to get there, you'll enter the west end to visit the state's public East Matunuck Beach. Continue east along Succotash Road - the main street - and you'll pass between single family cottages and beach-front homes. As the road bends north, the only two local restaurants will be on your right: Skip's Cafe and Jim's Dock both feature seafood. A series of boat slips dot the shore of Point Judith Pond along the two properties. There is a small public beach and fishing pier just beyond Jim's. Look east across the water from there and you'll see another biblical place: Galilee. Both locations are great for watching myriad commercial and recreational fishing boats and The Block Island Ferry vessels come and go throughout the day.

For me, personally, finding here and adding the second most-inconvenient Outdoor Basketball Court to my list of Waymarks was a personal accomplishment and point of pride. Be on the lookout for more nearby Waymarks if you play the game, too.

The Providence Journal published a short article about the place in 2014. It begins:

Jerusalem in Narragansett: A waterfront community with two personalities

Jerusalem, a tiny community on Point Judith Pond, is part humble fishing village, part gated community.

Located at the southwestern corner of town, south of East Matunuck State Beach on Succotash Road, the village is cut off from the rest of the Town of Narragansett by the Point Judith Breachway. It can be accessed by car only through South Kingstown.

The town line runs along the tip of the small peninsula that is Jerusalem. South Kingstown provides fire and police service to the community.

Bible verse: Isaiah 30:19
