Landkern is a village of less than a thousand inhabitants in the district of Cochem-Zell. Landkern is located on the eastern edge of the valley of the Endert River between Cochem and Kaisersesch and close to the Moselle. About one third of the territory of the municipality of Landkern is forested. Further belonging to the municipality are the hamlets Altes Forsthaus, Dreifaltigkeitshof, Esperhof, Jagdhaus Jettchen, Jorscheid, Neuhof, Schäferhof, Schöne Aussicht and the Siedlung am Meilenstein. Landkern is a tourist resort officially recognized by the German government. The A48 freeway just taps into the municipality area and Landkern itself can be reached via the Kaisersesch exit and the L98. Landkern is located on the old stagecoach road between Kaisersesch and Cochem.
