This statue of Saint Alphonus Liguori is located outside of Saint Alphonsus Church on Church Road in Wexford, PA. The statue is in a small grotto near the road and depicts Saint Alphonsus holding a book and pen.
Saint Alphonsus was born in the Kingdom of Naples in 1696 and, after studying and practicing law, became a priest. In 1732, he founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, also known as the Redemptorist Order. He was consecrated a bishop in 1762 and died in 1787. Pope Gregory XVI canonized Saint Alphonsus in 1839.
