Het ei is voorzien van een mozaïek. Het ei draait 360 graden, zodat steeds een ander deel zichtbaar wordt.
Irene gebruikte ca. 140 kleuren, waaronder 20 nuances goud. Het glas voor de mozaïek werd gepigmenteerd en met de hand gesneden in het 110 jaren oude atelier van Angelo Orsoni te Venetië. Het 23-karaats bladgoud werd ingeklemd tussen twee glazen plaatjes. In totaal gebruikte zij ca. 40.000 mozaïek-stukjes. Het kunstwerk werd in 1997 voltooid.

The egg has a mosaic. The egg rotates 360 degrees, so that a different part is always visible.
Irene used about 140 colours, including 20 shades of gold. The glass for the mosaic was pigmented and cut by hand in Angelo Orsoni's 110-year-old studio in Venice. The 23-carat gold leaf was sandwiched between two glass plates. In total she used about 40,000 mosaic pieces. The artwork was completed in 1997.
