The Tolhuis (Toll House) in Gorinchem can be found near the bastion on the south side of the city. Ships had to pay toll to pass in days past.

"The Tolhuis in the city of Gorinchem, in the Dutch province of South Holland, is a historic building from 1598. The Tolhuis is located at the end of the Molenstraat on the southernmost bastion of the fortified city.

Since 1869 the toll house has been used as an artillery barracks. Since then, the building has fulfilled various functions; library, reading room and employment office."
