In ASTURIAS surfing began in Salinas at the hands of the “inventor” Félix Cueto Serrano, who made his first boards. That feat is documented from 1963, with the second board that Félix Cueto made and that he tested first in a pool and then on the beach. It would be a series of photos in which in a concrete one Cueto is seen standing on the foam of a wave. If the summer date of 1963 is correct, as the testimonies affirm, it would be, for the moment, the first graphic document that records a Spanish surfer in Spain, standing on a wave. The sculpture that is framed in the Museum of the Anchors of the town aims to pay homage in an abstract representation of a wave with a board to Jaime Alonso Abruña, a surfer boy who died of leukemia in 2010.
