Made by the modern artist Peter Lenk, a pictured column with a lion statue on top remembers at the (in)famous Saxon Duke Heinrich der Löwe. The Lion is the symbol of the Welf Family and the Duchy of Brunswick.
On the column are many historic events in the life of the Duke, especally the "Bardowicker Gesäßhuldigung", the Bardowick Rump Ceremony.
