[FR] Chançay est une commune du département d'Indre-et-Loire. Le village est situé dans la vallée de la Brenne où s'écoule la rivière portant son nom. Chançay est cité au Xe siècle dans la charte de l'abbaye de Marmoutier sous le nom de Cansiacum. L'église Saint-Pierre est forte d'une histoire liée à la 7ème croisade grâce au don d'une relique de la véritable croix rapportée par le seigneur de Chançay, Hardouin de Maillé, en 1285.

L'Hôtel de Ville est situé au 16 Rue de la Mairie. Le bâtiment comprend deux étages et un sous-pente. Il est constitué en pierres de tuffeau blanc de Touraine, et une toiture en ardoise. Au-dessus de la marquise de la porte d'entrée, le mot MAIRIE est sculpté en relief. Le balcon de la fenêtre centrale du premier étage comprend trois drapeaux, le drapeau européen et deux drapeaux français. Au sommet du premier étage, au bas de la toiture, les trois mots de la devise de la République Française sont également sculptés en relief : Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité. Enfin, la fenêtre centrale de l'étage en sous-pente comprend les lettres R et F sculptées en relief, pour la République Française.

[EN] Chançay is a commune of the department of Indre-et-Loire. The village is located in the Brenne valley where the river bearing its name flows. Chançay is mentioned in the 10th century in the charter of the abbey of Marmoutier under the name of Cansiacum. The Saint-Pierre church has a strong history linked to the 7th crusade thanks to the gift of a relic of the true cross brought back by the lord of Chançay, Hardouin de Maillé, in 1285.

The Town Hall is located at 16 Rue de la Mairie. The building has two floors and a basement. It is made of white Touraine tufa stone, with a slate roof. The word MAIRIE is carved in relief above the marquee of the entrance door. The balcony of the central window of the second floor has three flags, the European flag and two French flags. At the top of the second floor, at the bottom of the roof, the three words of the motto of the French Republic are also sculpted in relief: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. Finally, the central window of the lower floor has the letters R and F carved in relief, for the French Republic.
