NL De Kruiskade en de West-Kruiskade zijn bekende winkelstraten in het centrum van Rotterdam. De grens tussen de Kruiskade en de West-Kruiskade lag bij de Westersingel. Tegenwoordig sluiten de Kruiskade en de West-Kruiskade niet meer op elkaar aan: tussen beide straten ligt het concertgebouw De Doelen. De Kruiskade bestond al in de late middeleeuwen en was een lage dijk (ook kade genoemd) tussen de Coolpolder en het ambacht van Schoonderloo enerzijds en West Blommerdijk en het ambacht van Beukelsdijk anderzijds. De Kruiskade had naast een waterkerende functie ook een verkeersfunctie. De West-Kruiskade loopt tussen het Kruisplein en de Westersingel aan de oostkant en de Eerste Middellandstraat aan de westzijde. Het is een multi-culturele straat met veel winkels met (vaak) allochtone exploitanten, waardoor hier een ruime keus aan exotische producten te vinden is. Vooral het grote aantal Chinese winkels aan de zijde van het Kruisplein is opvallend. De Rotterdamse Chinatown bevindt zich grotendeels in deze straat.
UK The Kruiskade and the West-Kruiskade are well-known shopping streets in the center of Rotterdam. The border between the Kruiskade and the West-Kruiskade was at the Westersingel. Nowadays, the Kruiskade and the West-Kruiskade no longer connect: the concert hall De Doelen is located between the two streets. The Kruiskade already existed in the late Middle Ages and was a low dike (also called quay) between the Coolpolder and the craft of Schoonderloo on the one hand and West Blommerdijk and the craft of Beukelsdijk on the other. In addition to a flood defense function, the Kruiskade also had a traffic function. The West-Kruiskade runs between Kruisplein and Westersingel on the east side and Eerste Middellandstraat on the west side. It is a multi-cultural street with many shops with (often) immigrant operators, which means that a wide choice of exotic products can be found here. The large number of Chinese shops on the Kruisplein side is particularly striking. Rotterdam's Chinatown is largely located in this street.
