Is it 1967 or stardate 3287.2?

Brand new in 1967, TRW Space Park is a suburban corporate campus covering 110 acres. The group of space science laboratories and manufacturing facilities was originally designed with the purpose of developing spacecraft, specifically ICBM technology. Over the years, countless advances in missile, satellite and space technology have been made here. Since 2002, the campus is part of the Northrop Grumman Corporation.

The producers of Star Trek must have felt that the site seemed futuristic enough to serve as the beautiful capital city of the planet Deneva in the episode “Operation -- Annihilate!” All outside scenes of this episode were shot here (except for one short still shot of Schoenberg Hall on the campus of UCLA).

In the episode, the inhabitants of the planet Deneva have become infected by parasitic entities which cause them to act against their will. Initially, a landing party beams down to investigate and encounters some deranged residents. The entire outdoor sequence was shot on the campus. Later, an already infected Spock beams down to collect a sample. It’s the same location as before.

The coordinates provided are for the area just outside the cafeteria. If you stand here, you’ll recognize several scenes, including the one where Spock, enduring much pain, is standing in front of a red tiled wall.
Which Series or Movie?: Star Trek TOS: Operation -- Annihilate!

Is there an admission charge?: No
