About Frederik baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken
"Frederik baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken was the first chairman of the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC) in 1912. He was the first Dutchman to join the International Olympic Committee in 1898."

About the location
The statue "The Olympic Salute", which was made in his honor by the Hague sculptor Gra Rueb, is located to the right of the Marathon Tower at the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium.

About the statue:
"Statue of a sportsman, who brings the Olympic Salute (before World War II). There are no inscriptions or plaques.
The pose of this statue in front of the main entrance to the Olympic Stadium has long been a source of confusion. However, it is not the Hitler salute that brings the image, but the old Olympic Salute.
Up to and including the 1936 Games in Berlin, the Olympic salute was traditionally brought during the opening ceremony. Athletes stretched their right arm, but that changed after World War II. It had been given a bad reputation by the Nazis in previous years."
