Auf den ersten Blick oder von weitem betrachtet könnte man dieses Gebäude für ein Schiff halten. Einerseits weil es vorne und hinten spitz erscheint und zum anderen, weil es mehrere Stockwerke umfasst und die oberste Ebene wie bei einem Schiff einen open-air Bereich mit "Reling" aufweist.
Dieses stylische Gebäude mit der Adresse Franz Josefs Kai 2 im 1. Bezirk, direkt neben dem Donaukanal, beherbergt einerseits auf der obersten Ebene das Café Motto am Fluss mit einer ausgedehnten Terrasse, auf dem man unter anderem herrlich frühstücken, aber auch Kleinigkeiten essen kann und eine Ebene darunter das Restaurant Motto am Fluss, das abends herrliche Speisen anbietet und darüber hinaus über eine Bar verfügt. Außerdem ist das Gebäude auch die Anlegestation für den Twin City Liner (von Wien nach Bratislava). Es gibt einen Ticketschalter und einen von der Stadt Bratislava betriebenen Informationsschalter.
Das 127 Meter lange, 17 Meter breite und 8 Meter hohe Gebäude, bei dem 300 Tonnen Stahl und 750 m² Glas verarbeitet wurden, steht auf mehr als 10 Stelzen. Das hat vielerlei Gründe: Es engt den Platz für die Spaziergänger entlang des Donaukanals auf der unteren Ebene nur unwesentlich ein, es ist bei allfälligem Hochwasser besser geschützt, es ist auch auf dem normalen Straßenniveau gut sichtbar und man hat einen optimalen Blick auf das Wasser und die vorbeifahrenden Schiffe.
Das Gebäude bietet auf Straßenniveau je einen Zugang auf beiden Enden des Gebäudes und einen Stiegenaufgang auf der untersten Ebene.

At first glance or from a distance, this building could be mistaken for a ship. On the one hand, because it appears pointed at the front and back, and on the other hand, because it comprises several floors and the top level has an open-air area with a "railing", just like a ship.
This stylish building with the address Franz Josefs Kai 2 in the 1st district, right next to the Danube Canal, houses on the one hand on the top level the Café "Motto am Fluss" (Motto on the river) with an extensive terrace, where you can have a wonderful breakfast, but also eat snacks, and one level below that the restaurant "Motto am Fluss", which offers delicious food in the evening and also has a bar. In addition, the building is also the docking station for the Twin City Liner (from Vienna to Bratislava). There is a ticket office and an information desk operated by the city of Bratislava.
The 127-meter-long, 17-meter-wide and 8-meter-high building, which used 300 tons of steel and 750 m² of glass, stands on more than 10 stilts. This has many reasons: It only marginally narrows the space for strollers along the Danube Canal on the lower level, it is better protected in case of any floods, it is clearly visible even at the normal street level, and you have an optimal view of the water and the passing ships.
The building provides street level access at each end of the building and stair access at the lowest level.
