Dit kunstwerk is onderdeel van een beeldenroute die de stad verbindt met de Hoge Veluwe en het Kröller-Muller Museum. Twaalf steenformaties van Adri Verhoeven markeren deze route. Het is een fietsroute die in het centrum van Ede start tot aan Otterlo gaat en weer terug.

Onder de bomen op een licht heuvelachtig terrein staan twee stenen dicht tegen elkaar. Beiden staan rechtop op de grond. De ruwe steen is afkomstig uit Zweden. De zwarte glad gepolijste steen is van Impala graniet. Een graniet soort dat o.a. in Zuid-Afrika wordt gevonden. De stenen zijn tegenpolen in vorm, kleur en herkomst. Zweeds verlangen is de titel van dit werk. Ondanks het verschil in vorm, kleur en herkomst ademt deze beeldengroep door zijn samenstelling een bepaalde intimiteit uit.

Adri Verhoeven was zijn hele leven lang al geboeid door stenen. Verhoeven heeft een groot respect voor de natuurlijke uitstraling en kracht van de steen. Hij bewerkt de steen zorgvuldig, stelt ze samen tot een geheel en zoekt een plek in het landschap uit waar de stenen passen. Zijn beeldformaties zijn samengesteld uit ruwe en gepolijste stenen.

This artwork is part of a sculpture route that connects the city with the Hoge Veluwe and the Kröller-Muller Museum. Twelve stone formations by Adri Verhoeven mark this route. It is a cycling route that starts in the center of Ede to Otterlo and back.

Under the trees on a slightly hilly terrain, two stones stand close to each other. Both are standing upright on the ground. The rough stone comes from Sweden. The black smooth polished stone is made of Impala granite. A type of granite that is found in South Africa. The stones are opposites in shape, color and origin. Swedish desire is the title of this work. Despite the difference in shape, color and origin, this group of sculptures exudes a certain intimacy due to its composition.

Adri Verhoeven had been fascinated by stones all his life. Verhoeven has great respect for the natural appearance and strength of the stone. He carefully processes the stone, puts it together into a whole and looks for a place in the landscape where the stones fit. His sculpture formations are composed of rough and polished stones.
