The village of Vouillé rises above the Lambon, whose bed is dry in this place except in the rainy season. In the 15th century Jean de Rochechouart was baron of Gasgougnolle and Vouillé. Sébastien d´Assilly founded in the 18th century in Vouillé, with the help of the Duke of Betune Charost, a community of the Sisters of Providence whose mission is to care for the sick and to educate the children of the parish. The Revolution interrupted the establishment's activity. Before the Revolution, the parish of Vouillé came under the abbey of Bourg-Dieu en Aunis. The village of Vaumoreau, which dates from the 4th century, was built in its lower part near Lambon. In 1975 excavations carried out in Vaumoreau, made it possible to discover near Lambon substructions dating from the first iron age, which demonstrates an ancient occupation of the site. In this locality there was also a chapel which was presented to the lord of the place.

The Fontaine de Vaumoreau stands along the rue du Lambon. It is a tall construction fitted with a pendulum, on the facade at the bottom of the building an arch houses one of the water inlets, the second is located higher up. To discover the source below the road, you have to take a staircase made up of ten steps. Water surges at the bottom of the pile in an excavation closed by a grate. Very close to the washhouse supplied by this fountain, when it is at its normal level. The said fountain was renovated a few years ago by the municipality of La Crèche. In the past, women used to come here to wash their clothes in winter because they liked the water temperature that was less freezing than that of the stream. In the summer, they would meet near the stream in which they would wash directly.

Le bourg de Vouillé s’élève au dessus du Lambon dont le lit est à sec à cet endroit sauf à la saison des pluies. Au XVème siècle Jean de Rochechouart était baron de Gasgougnolle et de Vouillé. Sébastien d’Assilly fonda au XVIIIème siècle à Vouillé, avec le concours du duc de Betune Charost une communauté des sœurs de la Providence ayant pour mission de soigner les malades et d’instruire les enfants de la paroisse. La Révolution interrompit l’activité de l’établissement. La paroisse de Vouillé relevait avant la Révolution de l’abbaye du Bourg-Dieu en Aunis. Le village de Vaumoreau qui daterait du IVème siècle, s’est construit dans sa partie basse près du Lambon. En 1975 des fouilles réalisées à Vaumoreau, ont permis de découvrir près du Lambon des substructions datant du premier âge du fer, ce qui démontre une occupation ancienne du site. Dans ce lieu-dit il existait également une chapelle qui était à la présentation du seigneur de l’endroit.

La Fontaine de Vaumoreau se dresse le long de la rue du Lambon. Il s’agit d’une haute construction munie d’un balancier, en façade au bas de l’édifice une arche abrite l’une des arrivées d’eau, la seconde est située plus en hauteur. Pour découvrir la source en contrebas de la route il faut emprunter un escalier constitué d’une dizaine de marches. L’eau sourd au bas de la pile dans une excavation fermée par une grille. Tout à côté le lavoir alimenté par cette fontaine, quand celle-ci est à son niveau normal. La dite fontaine fut rénovée il y a quelques années par la commune de La Crèche. Autrefois les femmes venaient y laver leur linge l’hiver car elles appréciaient la température de l’eau moins glacée que celle du ruisseau. L’été, elles se retrouvaient près du ruisseau dans lequel elles lavaient directement.
