Parking is available along Route 22. The general area is part of the state gamelands. The Thousand Steps were constructed for men to access their job site. Today we can climb them for fun. The fossil represented here is about 300 steps up there.
What kinds of fossils are found here:
Trace fossil - the remains of worm tunnels have been preserved.
