NL Op de hoek van de Vleesstraat en de Grote Beekstraat staat een mooie stalen troon. Iedereen die erop gaat zitten waant zich een koning of koningin. Hoewel heel opvallend, vond ik geen enkele bron online over deze troon. Wel vond ik een artikel dat voor het stadhuis van Venlo een troon heeft gestaan, gemaakt door Juul Baltussen, die later verplaatst is naar de Wijngaardstraat voor het Romerhuis. Als ik op google streetview kijk zie ik dat de troon daar staat maar voor een groot deel is geblurred. De voet van de troon lijkt een match van 100% maar de top van de troon lijkt compleet anders. Hieruit concludeer ik dan het een andere troon is dan de genoemde troon in de Wijngaardstraat, maar wel gemaakt door dezelfde kunstenaar Juul Baltussen.
ENG On the corner of the Vleesstraat and the Grote Beekstraat is a beautiful steel throne. Everyone who sits on it feels like a king or queen. While quite striking, I couldn't find any source online about this throne. I did find an article that has a throne in front of the city hall of Venlo, made by Juul Balmatten, who was later moved to the Wijngaardstraat in front of the Romerhuis. When I look on google street view I see that the throne is there but is largely blurred. The foot of the throne looks like a 100% match but the top of the throne looks completely different. From this I conclude that it is a different throne than the aforementioned throne in the Wijngaardstraat, but made by the same artist Juul Baltussen.
