Saint Martin's Church is situated on the corner of Audley Road and Crown Bank, in the village of Talke. It is and Anglican Church in the in the Diocese of Lichfield. The building is Grade II listed and described as a Parish Church built in 1794 with mid-C19 alterations and additions. The full detailed description can be seen at the following link: ( visit link) The stone polished obelisk is a memorial for members of the Hulse family. It has a pedestal and plinth set on a base of sandstone. The inscriptions read as follows; In Loving Memory of JOHN HULSE, BELOVED HUSBAND OF JANE HULSE OF HOLLINWOOD FARM, KIDSGROVE, WHO DIED MARCH 17TH 1907 AGED 73 YEARS "PEACE, PERFECT, PEACE" ALSO THE ABOVE JANE HULSE WHO DIED AUGUST 17TH 1911, AGED 73 YEARS.
THY WILL BE DONE In Loving Memory of WILLIAM HULSE BELOVED HUSBAND OF JANE HULSE OF 136 NEWCASTLE ST, BURSLEM, WHO DIED OCT 1ST 1907, AGED 37 YEARS. IT IS THE LORD, LET HIM DO WHAT SEEMETH HIM GOOD.
