Recently renamed Jardin Botanico Dr. Rafael M. Moscoso in honor to a national botanist, this botanical garden covers an area of 160 ha.
It's a complete garden, including a butterfly pavilion, a cactus area, a ferns garden, an orchids collection and the highlight, the Japanese gardens, built by a Japanese resident in Dominican Republic. Sadly, a number of these facilities has been left abandoned and are now closed to the visitors.
The park’s symbol is the leaf of a guanito, a kind of palm tree.
Visiting it from the center of Santo Domingo will probably imply a ride in a taxi or Uber as it's a bit distant.
