Ik was in Utrecht voor graafwerkzaamheden in de Zeeheldenbuurt. Ik was dus volop in veiligheidspak gehesen, compleet met werkjas met reflectiestrepen en helm. Er was pauze en ik kwam hier langs. Ik zag de vlaggen op het hotel Mitland en ik wilde ze graag fotograferen. Ik moet heel wat indruk gemaakt hebben want ik werd daarna achtervolgd door de receptioniste. Ze vroeg zich af of het hotel misschien tegen de vlakte zou gaan, gezien mijn outfit… Ik heb haar uitgelegd dat ik bezig was met waymarken en waarom ik de foto’s genomen had. Ik hoefde de foto’s niet te verwijderen maar ze zei wel dat ze de volgende keer graag geïnformeerd zou worden als er weer iemand foto’s komt nemen. Als je geen opvallende kleding hebt zullen een paar foto’s geen kwaad kunnen maar om zeker te zijn zou ik me dus bij de receptie melden…

Ik zag op het dak van het hotel vlaggen van :
De regenboogvlag, Nederland, België, Duitsland, Groot-Britannië, Brazilië, de Verenigde Staten, Spanje, Zweden, Italië en Frankrijk. Er waren ook enkele vlaggen niet goed zichtbaar omdat er erg weinig wind was. Ik denk dat het slaat op de nationaliteit van de gasten die het hotel bezocht hebben.

I was in Utrecht for excavation work in the Zeeheldenbuurt. So I was fully dressed in a safety suit, complete with a work jacket with reflective stripes and a helmet. There was a break and I passed by here. I saw the flags on the Mitland hotel and I wanted to photograph them. I must have made quite an impression because I was then chased by the receptionist. She wondered if the hotel might go down, given my outfit… I explained to her that I was waymarking and why I had taken the pictures. I didn't have to delete the photos but she did say she would like to be informed next time if anyone comes to take photos again. If you don't have eye-catching clothes, a few photos won't hurt, but to be sure I would report to the reception…

I saw flags of :
The rainbow flag, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Brazil, the United States, Spain, Sweden, Italy and France. There were also some flags not very visible because there was very little wind. I think it refers to the nationality of the guests who have visited the hotel.
