This transformer house on the Bernhardweg was built around 1925 by the N.V. Provinciale Geldersche Electriciteits Maatschappij. The design, of which there are several variants, dates from the first half of the 20s and was built in various villages and cities in Gelderland.
The design is probably by the house architect of the P.G.E.M., H. Fels.
The building has been preserved in its original state. Only the colors of the doors and the roof overhang are not original. It's a shame to paint some walls of this master masonry work in grey, you don't this to a monument which is nearly one hundred years old.
The sub-station is still part of the electricity network in Lochem. The incoming electricity is converted from 10 kVolt to the normal alternating voltage of 230 Volt which is common in the Netherlands.
