The double gate has sheet metal art.
The left side has a wagon pulled by two mules. There is a driver in the wagon and a dog on the ground next to it. In the wagon is a very large watermelon! In front of the mules are trees and miniature cattle and a cowboy. Next to the treetops is a star. Next to the star is a church steeple and then a windmill. Below the church is a horse and buggy.
The right side has Hempstead Texas est. 1856 across the bottom. On the left are two cowboys below the outline of the state of Texas. In the center is a locomotive with smoke blowing from the stack. On the right is a train car and some trees.
