The Lincoln Birthplace and its then-new imposing memorial building outside of Hodgenville KY would be a significant tourist site for 1920s-30s travelers driving along the eastern branch of the Dixie Highway, US 31E. Over 210 years after his 1809 birth, tourists still drive this road (now designated the Lincoln Heritage Highway) to see where America's arguably greatest President was born.
