The memorial is located in Deseronto Cemetery. It recognizes the six members of the Royal Flying Corps/Royal Air Force who died while undergoing training at the two airfields near Deseronto in 1917/1918.

The British War Commission established two nearby training fields in late 1916 early 1917. These were Camp Mohawk and Camp Rathbun. The RFC and subsequently the RAF trained officers, non-commissioned officers and cadets how to fly and support flying operations. During the course of the war, the following perished:

Cadet John Robson (1918)
2nd Private Frederick Grand (1918)
1st A.M. George D. Marshall (1917)
Sergeant John R. Holland (1918)
Lt CC Coleridge (1918)
Lt C. Humphreys (1918) (He had the extreme misfortune of surviving the crash, only to drown in the lake before he could be rescued.)

NON-COM. OFFICERS
CADETS and AIRMEN
of the
