La Figarella and its natural pools

The length of its watercourse is 24 km. In its upper part, for the National Institute of Geographic and Forestry Information, the Figarella is called Lomitu stream then Spasimata stream. It is born on the northern slopes of the Muvrella (2 148 m), at the altitude of 1 930 meters, just above the small lake of the Muvrella (1 867 m), on the commune of Calenzana. At the exit of the circus of Bonifatu, it flows through the forest of Bonifatu. At the place called Frassigna where it takes the name of river, its bed widens, making appear big pebbles of pink granite all along its valley. 6 km lower, from the place called Porta Vecchia, it goes along and/or crosses the township of Moncale up to the footbridge where its confluence with the brook of Pelliciani takes place. It passes again on the commune of Calenzana until the height of the international airport of Calvi Sainte-Catherine. It ends its course on the commune of Calvi, in the gulf of Calvi, between the equestrian center and the karting, in the west of the camp Raffalli.
