The falls named for German Lanterman who in in 1845-46 built his mill on Mill Creek at this location. The mill has been restored and is a working mill grinding grain each year. The mill sitting beside the falls adds to the scenic view. At the mill are several viewing opportunities with the trails and observation deck above the falls.
The falls are of a Block type and have a twenty foot drop into a large pool. There are lesser falls further upstream in the gorge but none compare to Lantermans Falls. The Canfield Road bridge, just downstream, offers a good view also.
