Het is weer even geleden dat we een Aalsmeers bedrijf in de spotlights hebben gezet. Maar vandaag staat hotel Chariot en restaurant Centennial centraal in de zakenrubriek Bedrijf in beeld. Een hotel en restaurant met extra's. Want er is een ParkFly en een Sleep Parkfly. En voor een ontspannen uitje kun je hier ook terecht, want de organisatie heeft een rondvaartboot die haar gasten naar het mooie natuurgebied van Aalsmeer brengt.

Toeristen, zakenlieden, bruidsparen, gezinnen. Je kunt je ze allemaal tegenkomen in hotel Chariot aan de Oosteinderweg 243 in Aalsmeer. Het viersterrenhotel opende zijn deuren in 1999 en is niet meer weg te denken in het dorp. Begonnen met alleen logies en ontbijt is het uitgegroeid tot een internationaal viersterrenhotel met 41 kamers, waar ook restaurant Centennial gehuisvest is. Bij de veertig hotelmedewerkers staat gastvrijheid en klantvriendelijkheid hoog in het vaandel en is persoonlijke service hét visitekaartje.

Het gebouw is van oorsprong een (privé basis)school uit 1916, toen met acht klaslokalen. Deze was de Immanuel school. In het hotel zijn de resten hiervan goed te zien, wat de gezellige sfeer ten goede komt. Later is het een meubelzaak geworden en toen het te koop kwam durfde Carmen Koster-Unger de stap te nemen om het gebouw te restaureren en er een hotel van te maken. Voor haar en haar man Jan Koster een uitdaging, maar niet nieuw omdat haar vader ook in het hotelwezen zit. Het gezin Koster ging het hotel runnen, want later kwam ook hun dochter in het bedrijf.

It has been a while since we put an Aalsmeer company in the spotlight. Today, however, the Chariot hotel and the Centennial restaurant are central to the business section Company in the picture. The building was originally a (private primary) school from 1916, then with eight classrooms. This was called the Immanuel school. The remains of this can be seen clearly in the hotel, which enhances the cozy atmosphere. Later it became a furniture store and when it came up for sale, Carmen Koster-Unger dared to take the step to restore the building and turn it into a hotel. A challenge for her and her husband Jan Koster, but not new because her father is also in the hotel industry. The Koster family started running the hotel, because later their daughter also joined the company.
