A quote from Owen Godwin, Sr., on his motivation to establish Gatorland - a theme park and wildlife preserve in Orlando, Florida - can be found at the entrance to white gators/Swamp Walk section. A concrete plinth at this southern end of the park supports a cast metal plaque that dedicates the walkway to Mr. Godwin. His words appear across the lower portion, beneath an alligator relief:
"My desire is to give to the visitors and
residents of Florida a look at the wildlife
and natural beauty of this great state."
