Texas Escapes"Rosebud was first called Pool's Crossing or Greer's Horsepen, and when it was granted a post office, the requested name was Mormon after a group of Mormons who had settled nearby.
A fire in 1887 destroyed the community. The new postmaster, wanted to name the post office after a local family named Mullins. There was already a Mullin, Texas over in Mills County, so the application was denied. Rosebud was then submitted after the bush in Mrs. Mullin's yard. Rosebud was accepted and the town has been Rosebud ever since."
The sign is white with the text "Welcome to Rosebud" "We call it Home, you should too!". Below the text is a large red rose and a small rosebud.
