It was constructed in 1899. Designed by Hartwell and Richardson of Boston in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Westfield Municipal Building was built in 1889 to house the state normal school, serving in that role until its acquisition by the city in 1959. Today it is the Westfield City Hall.
