Bicycle Weathervanes by Howie Sneider at Riverside Park - Providence, Rhode Island - Unique Weathervanes on Waymarking.com

Artist Howie Sneider designed and installed this series of weathervanes in 2008. The freely rotating elevated bicycles are dispersed in an arc that follows -- or describes -- a bend in the Woonasquatucket Greenway as it runs through the southern end of Riverside Park in the Olneyville neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. Each looks like a regular bike frame from far away, but as you approach you see that the tires have been replaced with metal trash can lids. The bikes are mounted atop orange, 20-foot-tall poles. Pole-mounted signage reads:

These spinning bike sculptures tower over the bike path in Riverside Park. Recycled trash can lids take the place of wheels on reused bicycles, catch the breeze and make the sculptures dance in the wind.
