There is a parking area at the Church that is available for "bloom tourists," and there is also a long street you can pull off of on the way up the hill.

--> For the preservation of this locality, collection or picking is prohibited <-- Another reason NOT to pick the bluebonnets is that each bract will become a seed pod to re-seed more flowers next year. One flower this year will make a dozen seed pods, which will release several dozen seeds, to become becomes dozens of new flowers next year - so DON'T PICK THE BLUEBONNETS!

Texas comes alive every spring time as our beloved Texas Bluebonnets emerge in early April. Often mixed with Indian Paintbrush or Pink Evening Primrose, Texas flower fields are a magnet for families with children who delight in taking annual photos in the flowers.

Bluebonnet emerging times, and the strength of the bloom, vary with the weather. Very cold winters will delay the bluebonnets emerging and therefore push back the bloom. Whether or not enough rain falls in the early spring will also affect how many flowers will bloom.

Bluebonnet plants will usually emerge in late January to early February and begin blooming in South Texas around 01 March. Bluebonnets will start blooming in North Texas usually around late-March, with the peak around the first week of April.

Peak Bluebonnet bloom times will vary because the state is so large. Bluebonnets emerge first in South Texas and then slowly move up through Central, North Central, and East Texas. Bluebonnets are not found in the wild in West Texas.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is a great resource for finding out when and where the bluebonnets are blooming where they are peaking and where they are past peak: (visit link)
