Construction of the Providence National Bank in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, was completed in 1930. Nearly all of the building was demolished in 2005 to make space for luxury condominiums. That residential project never came to fruition because of a softening real estate market and only the façade remained.

Advocacy for saving the remnant was a focus of the Providence Preservation Society, which included the structure on their 2009-2011 Most Endangered Properties lists. The façade at 35 Weybosset Street was reinforced with steel beams on its west side in a November 2011 - January 2012 preservation project. The $400,000 work was funded by the Providence Revolving Fund and O’Connor Capital Partners, the owners of the façade and the parking lot behind it.

The site is now one of local public arts organization The Avenue Concept's mural program locations. Art works appear on the street side and parking lot side of the ground floor widow openings which are covered in wood panels and change annually.
