listed at the Texas World War I Honor Roll site, which notes that he died of pneumonia. Most likely, the influenza pandemic that raged in 1918 did the dirty work and pneumonia finished him off.
His granite headstone has the flag of the United States complementing the Woodmen of the World emblem, and the inscription reads:
