This Oklahoma Historical Marker, set in 1959, is at a road side pull out on the south side of Highway 11, due north of the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge. The marker is a bronze plaque set in a stone pillar. The text is

In Summer of 1811 group composed of 8 White men and 6 Osage passed here after crossing north portion of salt plains from east to southwest.
