The dwelling and former bakery an example of a practice, common in the 19th century, of combining business premises and a dwelling into the one structure.The oldest section of the building built in 1860 is the rear two rooms of the main building, built on sloping ground and including a sandstone walled cellar, with the single storey bakery wing at ground level behind. The front section, on a different floor level, comprises two rooms with a central hall through to the symmetrical facade on the street front. The face brick facade is decorated with a low parapet, with quoins at the corners, around the windows and arched front door.
