The brushed metal (probably stainless steel) plaque is embedded in a moderate-sized stone stele, about 10 metres away from the Dedicated Tree for the Silvan pioneers. The plaque reads
The Pioneer tree was planted
on Tuesday 3rd August 2010
to commemorate the township
and residents of Silvan
The area was initially opened up in 1863
to provide fresh fruit and vegetables
for the Melbourne market.
A Post Office opened on 19th 1892,
known as Wandin until 1893,
the Wandin South until 1913,
when the name was changed to Silvan.

A wooden bench of hexagonal shape is built right around the Dedicated Pin Oak Tree. (On talking with a local horticulturist, they mentioned that the Oak tree would do a lot better in Victoria, than where I live, in New South Wales.
