Centenarian Maxine Schwartz's final resting place is in section Z, at the west/southwest side of Grace Hill Cemetery. She shares an upright marker with her spouse John Bernard, whom she survived by 24 years.

At the time of my visit the Schwartz headstone was adorned with beautiful flowers and a cross.

Maxine Doris Studebaker was born October 1, 1917 in Perry, Oklahoma; one of six children born to the farm family of Benjamin Franklin Studebaker and Laura Ellen (Hollinger) Studebaker. Her father made the Cherokee Strip Land Run in 1893 and then returned to Kansas to marry. Benjamin and Laura returned to their homestead just south of Perry, Oklahoma. Sadly Maxine's parents died when she was only seven years old. She was raised by an older sister. Maxine was acquainted with John Schwartz because their families were friends in the same small community just east of Perry. John went to work with the Police Department. They were married in March of 1938. They had 55 years together and were blessed with three children, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Maxine was a homemaker and worked as a cook at the Perry Junior High School until her retirement in 1988. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church and served in volunteer service especially the Christian Women's Fellowship, and helping out with cooking or singing or whatever was needed. She loved to quilt and she loved to walk. Her advice to the rest of us? WALK FOR YOUR HEALTH".
Maxine was inducted into the OKLAHOMA CENTENARIAN HALL OF FAME on the occasion of her 100th Birthday Celebration.
