Antigua mezquita de conversos cristianos ( principios del siglo XIII ) , fue el primer espacio consagrado como iglesia por los Reyes Católicos al conquistar la ciudad , siendo demolida en 1520 para levantar este templo . Su estilo gótico , apreciable en su puerta principal y en los arcos apuntados de las naves , evidencia una primera fase del mudéjar granadino . Es la única de las parroquias albaicineras que posee tres naves . La mitad del muro que da a San Juan de los Reyes se rehízo a finales del siglo XIX para realizar una segunda puerta . De la antigua mezquita se ha conservado el alminar , adosado a la cabecera de la iglesia y al que se le añadió el cuerpo de campanas . Su decoración exterior de ladrillo con arcos mixtilineos y paños de sebka evidencia su estilo almohade , similar al de la Giralda de Sevilla .
