In de hoek van de zandhorstweg en Hunnenbulterweg is een kleine tuin met bankjes daar staat een groot kruis met een gekruisigde Christus.
Het landkruis aan de Zandhorstlaan, in Oldenzaal, staat al bijna 75 jaar op deze plaats.
Het kruis is in al die jaren nooit vernield of beklad, het is wel een keer omgewaaid.
Op de stenen voet van het kruis staat: Ave crux, spes unica
Dat is een Latijnse vrome uitdrukking of motto dat 'Gegroet aan het kruis, onze enige hoop' betekent. De uitdrukking heeft een lange geschiedenis in katholieke en anglicaanse vroomheid en is een motto dat af en toe wordt gebruikt door bisschoppen en kerkelijke instellingen.

The land cross on Zandhorstlaan, in Oldenzaal, has been on this site for almost 75 years.
The cross has never been destroyed or defaced in all those years, it has been blown over once.
On the stone base of the cross is written: Ave crux, spes unica
