Lekker dwalen op landgoed Hemmen door het prachtige park dat aan de Linge ligt en de ommuurde kasteeltuin.
Het is een oase van zee en rust.
Dwaal je nog wat verder af dan vind je het trekpontje.
"Schipper mag ik overvaren…?
Ja, maar dan zult u lang moeten wachten want er is geen schipper te bekennen. U bent namelijk zelf de gezagvoerder.
We hebben het over het trekpontje van het landgoed ‘De Heerlijkheid Hemmen’. U stapt op de ‘veerboot’ en trekt u zelf naar de overkant. U bent heer en meester zolang de overtocht duurt en hoelang die duurt bepaalt u zelf.
Maar waar vind ik dat pontje?
Vanaf de kom in Hemmen loopt u richting de Linge, de Tolbrug over langs een waterwingebied en na 997 m bereikt u links een passeerhek. Daarachter vervolgt u over een natuurvriendelijke oever uw wandeling langs een sloot die is verbreed voor waterberging. Het is tevens een sloot waardoor water wordt afgevoerd. Het terrein is in gebruik van Vitens i.v.m. drinkwaterwinning.
Na pakweg 800 m komt u bij het trekpontje. Het is even hard werken voordat u aan de overkant bent van het verbindingskanaal tussen de Rijn en de Linge, maar u bent dan wel een ervaring rijker als zelfstandig schipper.
Aan de overkant kunt u alle kanten op, naar links en naar rechts. Rechtsaf belandt u uiteindelijk bij het gemaal op de Rijndijk.
Links komt u uit bij de sluis in de Linge aan de Gesperdensestraat."

But where can I find that ferry?
From the bowl in Hemmen you walk towards the Linge, cross the Tolbrug along a water extraction area and after 997 m you reach a passing gate on the left. Behind it you continue your walk along a nature-friendly bank along a ditch that has been widened for water storage. It is also a ditch through which water is drained. The site is used by Vitens in connection with drinking water extraction.
After about 800 m you will come to the tow ferry. It is just as hard work before you are on the other side of the connecting channel between the Rhine and the Linge, but you will gain an experience as an independent skipper.
On the other side you can go in all directions, to the left and to the right. Turn right and you will eventually arrive at the pumping station on the Rijndijk.
