The Bird Watching Trail is a .7 mile loop that takes hikers to the lake, and requires good eyesight, good hearing, and a bit of patience, but even without the birds, it is a beautiful walk. The sign notes that the park is home to over 180 species of birds, and it provides some photos and some sound bytes about the most common ones:

- Osprey
- Eastern Bluebird
- American White Pelican
- Belted Kingfisher
- Great Blue Heron
- Painted Bunting
- Indigo Bunting
- Bald Eagle
- American Coot
