"The Second World War monument in De Glind (municipality of Barneveld) is a brick wall with a natural stone memorial plaque.
The text on the monument reads:
'IN HONOR OF THOSE WHO FELL'.
It contains the names of 15 + 1 war victims.
The war monument reminds the inhabitants of De Glind of 15 + 1 fellow-citizens who died during the years of occupation by acts of war.
The monument was unveiled in 1948."

To the right of the stone memorial plaque with 15 names is another separate plaque with the name D. Stoffelsen (Dirkje Stoffelsen). This plaque is added later.
"Dirkje was a woman of 21 and lived in a large family on the Postweg.
During the liberation of De Glind in April 1945, when the Canadians and the Germans were fighting each other, Dirkje called her brothers and sisters inside and sent them into the basement to take shelter. In the process, she was unfortunately hit by a stray bullet that was definitely not meant for her....." (
