Vladas Jurgutis (17 November 1885 in Joskaudai near Palanga – 9 January 1966 in Vilnius) was a Lithuanian priest, economist, and professor.

n 1902 Jurgutis graduated from a high school in Palanga and enrolled in the Kaunas Priest Seminary. After graduation in 1906 he continued his studies at the Saint Petersburg Roman Catholic Theological Academy and received a Master's Degree in 1910. From 1910 to 1913 he studied economics at Munich University. In 1913 he served as a priest in Švekšna and later in Liepaja. During World War I Jurgutis retreated to Russia, where he worked as a pastor in Saratov and Astrakhan. Upon his return to Lithuania, he worked at the Kaunas Priest Seminary until 1922. Jurgutis became active in Lithuanian politics, but never officially quit the priesthood.[2]

Jurgutis was one of the initiators of the revival of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party. He was elected to the Constituent Assembly of Lithuania (1920–1922) and headed a Finance and Budget Committee. From 1 January 1922 to 28 September 1922 Jurgutis served as the Foreign Minister of Lithuania in the Cabinet of Ernestas Galvanauskas. He resigned to become the first chairman of the Bank of Lithuania. He served in this position until 1929.[3] From 1925 he taught at the University of Lithuania, from 1940 at the University of Vilnius. Jurgutis was the President of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences from 1941 to 1943, when he, along with other prominent public figures, was arrested and transported to the Stutthof concentration camp by the Nazi authorities. He returned to Lithuania in 1945 and retired from public life.

In 1997 the Bank of Lithuania established Vladas Jurgutis scholarship and Vladas Jurgutis Award to encourage scientific activities in the area of research on Lithuania‘s banking, finance, money and macroeconomics.

1902 m. baige Palangos progimnazija, 1906 m. baige Kauno Žemaiciu kunigu seminarija, 1910 m. teologijos magistro laipsniu baige Petrapilio dvasine akademija. 1910–1913 m. studijavo ekonomika Miuncheno universiteto Valstybes ukio fakultete.

1908 m. kartu su kitais dvasiškiais ikure ateitininku organizacija. 1913 m. vikaras Švekšnoje, 1914–1915 m. Liepojoje. Artejant pirmojo pasaulinio karo frontui pasitrauke i Rusija, klebonavo Saratove ir Astrachaneje. Grižes i Lietuva 1918 m. ejo Žemaiciu kunigu seminarijos prefekto pareigas, 1918–1922 m. seminarijos profesorius.

Vienas Lietuviu krikšcioniu demokratu partijos veiklos atkurimo iniciatoriu, 1919–1921 m. LKDP Centro komiteto narys. Oficialiai kunigystes nemete, tyliai iš jos pasitraukes, toliau visa savo nepaprasta išminti, darbštuma ir erudicija pašvente pasaulietinei veiklai.

1920 m. gegužes 15 d. – 1922 m. lapkricio 13 d. Steigiamojo Seimo atstovas, išrinktas III (Raseiniu) rinkimu apygardoje. Priklause Krikšcioniu demokratu frakcijai. Finansu ir biudžeto komisijos vedejas. 1920 m. gruodžio menesi dalyvavo Lietuvos derybose su Lenkija. VI bei VII Ernesto Galvanausko Ministru kabinetuose nuo 1922 m. sausio 1 d iki 1922 m. rugsejo 28 d. užsienio reikalu ministras. 1922 m. lapkricio 13 d. – 1922 m. gruodžio 1 d. Pirmojo Seimo atstovas.

1922–1929 m. Lietuvos Banko valdytojas. 1926 m. vienas akcines bendroves „Lietuvos cukrus“ steigeju. 1925 m. kunigystes atsisake. Nuo 1925 m. deste Lietuvos universitete, ekstraordinarinis, ordinarinis profesorius. Be to, deste ekonomika Aukštuosiuose Vytauto Didžiojo karininku kursuose.

Nuo 1940 m. Vilniaus universiteto Ekonomikos fakulteto profesorius, veliau šio fakulteto dekanas. 1940 m. rugpjucio men. NKVD užvede Jurgucio byla, o 1943 m. liepos 16 d. irašyta, kad jo socialine ir politine padetis yra antitarybine. 1941–1943 m. Lietuvos Mokslu Akademijos prezidentas. 1943 m. kartu su kitais 46 Lietuvos inteligentais už vokieciu valdžios politikos kritika išvežtas i Štuthofo koncentracijos stovykla. 1945 m. grižo i Lietuva, iki 1946 m. Vilniaus universiteto profesorius.
