The Grand opened in 1911 as a small Vaudeville theater. It was reconfigured in Moderne style in 1940, making the old theater the entrance and building a larger seating area and screen off the back. The Grand closed as a theater in 1966 and the building served a variety of purposes since then. In 2005 it was purchased by a group that wanted to turn it into a community art center.
