Claude Shannon was the co-creator of the
Shannon-Hartley theorem which states the maximum rate at which information can be transmitted over a communications channel of a specified bandwidth in the presence of noise.
Shannon graduated in 1936 from the University of Michigan with two bachelor's degrees: one in electrical engineering and the other in mathematics.
