The entry in the book for the park says, "A popular vacation destination, the park is well known for its superb outdoor opportunities. Settlement of the area was slow as the vast Pymatuning swamp and impenetrable forest made travel difficult. Eventually the woods were felled, and more settlers arrived. Remnants of the original swamp remain today. Located on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border, the 14,000-acre reservoir offers multiple boat access areas, seasonal docks, and some of the finest walleye and muskellunge fishing in the state. Visitors will also find a large campground, cozy cabins, a swimming beach, and scenic picnic areas along the lake."
